Georgian luger killed in training run at Winter Olympics

The view looking up to Turn 15. The location of the horrible crash by Georgian Luge Olympian Nodar Kumaritashvili, on Friday February 12, 2010. Nodar crashed into the support columns at approximately 144 kilometers per hour (88 mph), and which in this image have yet to be built. The crash called into question the safety of the track, known throughout the sport as the fastest track in the world and difficult to conquer.

After the crash, the track was deemed safe and that Nodar had lost control of his sled.
